If you haven't run before, or for a while but want to get fitter, this class will give you an introduction to the basics of running in a group. All ages welcome. These sessions are for you if you’re a beginner runner or if you have not run for a while and want a gentle introduction. There is no minimum level of experience. Its fine to walk a bit, jog a bit and walk a bit more. As the group name suggests, it’s about getting you started in running.
I have never done any running before, is this for me? As a complete beginner, you will find a friendly, supportive environment where you can have fun and work towards your own personal goals with other people at a similar stage on their running journey.
Who leads the sessions? There are two or three running coaches, trained and qualified with British Athletics who will lead the sessions. Each session will be progressive, but you will be encouraged to run at your own pace.
What should I wear & bring to the session? Consider the weather, so a waterproof/windproof if the weather is wet or windy. Make sure you wear comfortable clothes that you would workout in. Trainers are a must for any runner. Bring a drink of water with you too.
What are the health benefits of running? Running will burn calories, helping you to lose weight. It will also help fight depression, relieve stress, improve your self-esteem, concentration & boost your confidence. Running with friends or interacting with other runners virtually can provide them with a supportive social group.
All Ages and abilities welcome!
There will be an Advanced Running Group Running alongside the Beginners Group for those that want to keep attending.
